The Latest Apple iPhone News
The Newest Members Of The Team: The iPhone X
This year marked Apple’s 10th anniversary of the iPhone, and released the long awaited iPhone X to accompany this, along with the iPhone 8 Plus and 8.
The iPhone X is the £1000 iPhone: Apple’s most expensive device to release. However, how new is it?
The iPhone X does come with a radical re-design, which has been needed for years. An all-glass front and back, with the removal of the Home button, opens up a brighter, more colourful, higher resolution OLED display. Finally joining Samsung and others on this screen technology, the screen is officially better than the other iPhones.
We’re also rewarded with enhanced security. Moving away from Touch ID to Face ID: facial recognition to unlock the device makes things both quicker and easier. The cameras at the rear now have a larger lens, allowing in more light, and thus capturing better photos in low light conditions, such as evening shots. Video recording at 4K is now at up to 60 fps: another improvement on before.
Finally, you no longer have to plug in a cable to charge. The X, 8 Plus and 8 all offer wireless charging, allowing one to simply place the device on a charging pad and you’re good to go.
Internally, the specs are similar to the iPhone 8 Plus, so it’s important to note how much you value the above differences before cashing out for the device. Compare the best iPhone X deals here.
So what’s the difference between the iPhone X and the iPhone 8?
Most importantly, the price. The iPhone X is 40% more costly.
Then you have very different displays. The iPhone X is bigger (5.8-inch vs 4.7-inch), has a higher resolution, and takes up a larger amount of the actual phone (83% screen to body ratio vs 66%). These are cutting edge display specs for Apple, but normal amongst other manufacturers.
Similarly, both iPhones have glass backs, enable wireless charging, and are water and dust resistant. They also hold stereo speakers which are 25% louder than previous Apple families.
Under their hoods, they perform at a very similar pace. Both have the A11 chip, a six core CPU, M11 motion coprocessor. Their RAMs differ by 1GB.
The iPhone X removed its Touch ID, and replaced this with Face ID. The iPhone 8 doesn’t hold this, but it’s up to you if it’s worth the difference.
A difference that may be more significant to you is the cameras. Back camera wise, the X has a 12-megapixel telephoto lens and 2x optical zoom. It beats the 8 Plus with a faster aperture and optical image stabilisation. Front camera wise, they are the same, with a 7-megapixel lens and f/2.2 aperture.
For a big price difference, buyers will get similar phones with almost identical performance, cameras and battery. The key difference is visual: a larger phone, with a bigger, crisper display, and Face ID.
The Previous Member Of The Team: The iPhone 7
First of all, therrived with the 7 Plus with virtually identical outer aesthetics, resulting in consumers questioning whether its worth the upgrade. However, a blindingly obvious change is the headphone jack. Or lack thereof. Instead, users will need to use wireless headphones if they want to charge their phone at the same time. Otherwise, the included lightning to 3.5mm adaptor will suffice. Thus, it’s the only real aesthetic change that might annoy some.
In addition, Apple also decided to compete with competitors regarding longevity. Dust and water resistance appears to be a big selling point elsewhere in the market from rivals. While late to the scene here, it’s nice to know it won’t immediately destroy itself when something like this happens. And, remaining on the subject of its outside look, you’ll notice a new choice in colours with Black and Jet Black.
Furthermore, with its first ever quad-core processor combined with the A10 chip, Apple claims its performance has improved over the iPhone 6S by 40%. Photography wise, the iPhone 7 improves on the 6S’ weakness among low lighting through changes with its back camera, and bumps the front camera up to 7-megapixels. Thus, a necessary change as Samsung continues to target the selfie-generation.
Finally, while we’re told that the iPhone 7 has an improved battery, this might be more disappointing to some. Consequently, not much focus has been on this element, with only a slightly better battery giving you 2 extra hours from its predecessor.
What do tech reviewers think of the iPhone 7?
Most of all, expert reviewers love the brighter display, the camera’s optical zoom, the more efficient A10 chip, and its water resistance. Yet, they’re disappointed with the removal of the jack, an unchanged external design, and a lack of expandable storage.

Apple’s Latest Change: The 3.5mm headphone jack has gone
Most noteworthy, the ever so familiar, useful, easy to use 3.5mm earphone jack has disappeared. Why? Well according to Apple, it’s a space waster, and they claim to pack in extra tech as a result. Yet the new iPhones are no thinner than before.
Apple’s iPhone vs. Google’s Android?
This argument has been building up for decades. Either way, whatever device you empty your pocket for, the phone you choose will be better at some things than its rival and worse at others.
Firstly, by design terms, Apple’s devices have always been received better by analysts when comparing overall design and quality, with a consistent theme of sleekness while maintaining build quality. On the inside, the app experience has always been smoother and more user-friendly on the iPhones in comparison to Android counterparts.
In addition, CNN has produced a useful comparison widget summarising the key differences in Apple & Android features, both externally and internally.

Apple’s Budget Release: The Apple iPhone SE
The iPhone SE is one of Apple’s lower priced iPhones to suit those under a more restricted budget. It comes with upgraded internal specifications and brand new features on the inside, yet a familiar revitalised design on the outside. Hence, this is a model that remains within the smartphone market at a comfortable size that fits well in one’s palm. That means a 4-inch Retina display with a strong aluminium frame for durability, putting it as one of Apple’s lightest models on the market.
First of all, the biggest change with this upgrade is the introduction of Touch ID technology: allowing the user to access the iPhone SE using their fingerprint. This beats the passcode lock, making it quicker to login.
Added to this, camera quality has improved significantly, with a whopping 12-megapixel rear camera that records video in 4K. The rear FaceTime HD camera holds a 1.2-megapixel lens with autofocus. Two significant improvements for those interested in photography but want to stick with a smaller iPhone model.

Another Previous Release: The Apple iPhone 6S Plus
In comparison to its sister model, the iPhone 6S Plus has a much larger screen at 5.5-inches, placing itself truly in the “phablet” market. This competes well with its large screen rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy and LG. Pixel density lies at 401 ppi, less than rivals but still outstanding, and overall weighs at 192 grams. It is one of Apple’s largest model, with all the latest features included. Perfect for media lovers for taking high quality videos at 4K and sharp photos, great for viewing on its large Retina HD screen.
In addition, camera quality lies at its very best, with the same cameras as the 6 (12-megapixel rear camera: 5-megapixel front camera). As stated, megapixels do not define quality, so see for yourself how this model matches with close competitors in the Samsung market. The iPhone 6S Plus boasts a brand new A9 64-bit custom built processor, and comes at capacities of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB storage spaces.

Which To Buy? The 6S or 6S Plus?
Starting off, the key physical difference is the size. If you’re looking to watch full length films or regularly view photos, the iPhone 6S Plus holds the advantage over the iPhone 6S’ smaller 4.7-inch screen. The iPhone 6S Plus boasts a full HD 1080pi display.
Added to this, while both phones have powerful batteries to last a full day, the iPhone 6S holds a Li-Po 1810 mAh battery, while the iPhone 6S Plus carries a Li-Po 2915 mAh battery. If you’re not looking to constantly plug in the power cable, the 6 Plus could be the better option.
However, while the 6S Plus wins over size, screen and battery, the overall price difference, whether you buy on or off contract, is significantly high. So, you have to decide whether it’s worth the extra cash for these advantages, or whether you’re happy to stick with the iPhone 6S, an equally impressive device that is more compact and sleek in the hand.
Either way, use Best iPhone Deals to help you make the decision and save at the same time.
What Are SIM Only Contracts?
Yes, we have all the best iPhone deals and contracts on the market, but we also like to give consumers choice. SIM Only plans are fairly new to the market, and bring great benefits. Lots of consumers have no desire to upgrade their phone, and so are more interested in moving onto a new pay monthly plan, whether they want higher allowances or a lower monthly cost.
Most noteworthy, the more popular SIM Only plans are 30-day rolling contracts. Thus, this gives you great flexibility, allowing you to easily switch to a new contract after a month. New deals arrive everyday, so this means you can opt for a better plan with ease. Or if you’re going away for a while, you can easily cancel the contract.
However, it’s important to note that you should check whether you’re handset is locked to a network or unlocked, as this will affect what deals you can go for when choosing a SIM only plan.
